Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the Capitol Area Council, Sacred Springs District

This cache has been placed as part of the Boy Scouts of America “Get in the Game” activities. Caching to Eagle is just one of the Geocaching activities that BSA has developed to help celebrate its 100th Anniversary.

Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout requires years of dedication and hard work. In addition to 21 required merit badges, each Scout must complete an extensive service project that he plans, organizes, leads, and manages. On average, each Scout conducts 167 service hours as part of that project.

Caching to Eagle is designed to showcase these Eagle Scout service project sites.

For his Eagle Project, a Scout from Troop 101 landscaped and placed a flagstone walkway up to and around the gazebo at the Phillips’ Cemetery. The flagstone for the walkway was donated by a local landowner but the Scout had to retrieve the stone from the property himself. In addition, thirty tree stumps had to be removed from the area. The project was very labor intensive but the hard work paid off. The results will be enjoyed for years to come.

This cache has been placed with permission from the Phillips’ Cemetery Board.
