Geocache Description:

This cache is Black Cylinder Pot Slightly bigger than a 35mm film pot placed at ground level. Cache contains log a FTF certificate. It is possible it could be accessible to wheelchair users.

Poor Alan Grebell paid a high price for borrowing his brother in law's distinctive mayoral cape. As he crossed the churchyard on his way home on the night of 16th March 1742, he was stabbed by John Breeds, a local butcher, who mistook Grebell for James Lamb, the Mayor. As part of his magisterial duties, Lamb had fined Breeds for giving short weight, and Breeds was a bitter man. Grebell died from his wounds and was buried in the north chancel of the church. Breeds was arrested and tried. After being imprisoned and shackled in the prison for sixty-seven days, he was hanged and hung out on Gibbets Marsh to rot. The Town Hall, built in 1742, now houses a gibbet cage containing the remains of John Breeds. ** AS PER GEOCACHING RULES YOU CAN ONLY CLAIM A FIND IF YOU SIGN THE LOG SHEET **
