Welcome to the Lake Cumberland State Resort Park's 5th Annual Earth Day Geocache Event. We are planning another challenging hunt from the novice, to the expert cacher. Be prepared for a challenging two day hunt! In the spirit of Earth Day we would like everyone to enjoy the beauty of Lake Cumberland State Resort Park while making sure we keep it clean by, cache in trash out, and leave no trace.
The geocache weekend event will begin on Friday April 23rd and continue through Sunday April 25th. We will launch the weekend on Friday evening at Lake Cumberland State Resort Park with registration beginning at approximately 6:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m. CST. We will be having a brief meet and greet at 8:00 p.m. CST to get everyone acquainted. We will also go over event rules and procedures while caching.
Caching will commence promptly at 8:00 a.m. CST both Saturday and Sunday morning at Lake Cumberland S.R.P. and will end at 12:00 p.m on Sunday. We will meet briefly each morning to disseminate coordinates and your cache packet. In order to possibly download the coordinates, please do not forget to bring your USB cord with you, otherwise you will have to do it manually.
***** Travel bugs and coins welcomed if you want to bring them or drop them for others to discover or move.
The registration fee for the weekend is $20.00 per couple (any 2 people) and $10.00 per individual. Pre-registration is not required, but would be greatly appreciated. It helps tremendously with planning and implementation. There will be several FTF prizes. We may have a few more added surprises along the way! Join us at Lake Cumberland State Resort Park for a fun filled weekend of geocaching.
There are a limited number of rooms set aside at Pumpkin Creek Lodge for the event. When you call to make reservations, mention geocache weekend for a special discounted rate. Rooms are on a first come first serve basis. If you would like to reserve a room please call 1-800-325-1709.
If you are interested in renting a campsite you are in luck. This will also be Camper Appreciation Weekend which means you get 2 nights for the price of one, pay for Friday night and get Saturday night free. Campsites will be available when you arrive so there is no need to make a reservation.

Terrain levels are in an average range but the fact that many will be on park trails is why the difficulty level is 3.5 stars. Caches are placed close to trails which make them easily accessible. Caution should be exercised when walking on any trail. Also there will be numerous caches placed at short walking distance from parking.
NOTE: 04/15/10 There are currently only 4 event discounted rooms at Pumpkin Creek Lodge left to reserve. There are plenty of campground sites available, no need to make reservations for those. If you are interested in any of the accommodations, call for more information while they are still available.
