he world`s largest statue of the Virgin Mary with Jesus is built with honour and respect to the Holy Mother of God the Protectress of the town of Haskovo. It was dedicated on 8 September 2003 with a sanctification ceremony held by the High Right Reverend, The Bishop Arsenii. Authors: Petyo Aleksandrov, Nikola Stoyanov and staff. It is made of polymer-concrete,its weight is 80 tons.
Най-голямата в света статуя на Дева Мариясмалкия Исус се издига на хълма Ямача в Хасково и е един от символите на града. Тя е висока 14 метра и е поставена върху 17- метров фундамент, заради което притежава сертификат от прочутата Книга на световните рекорди на Гинес. Монументът Света Богородицa е дело на авторски колектив начело със скулпторите Петьо Александров и Никола Стоянов. От столетия Дева Мария е смятана за покровителка на Хасково, затова с решение на местния Общински съвет от 1993 година 8 септември /празника Рождество Богородично/ е обявен за ден на града. Тогава в Хасково традиционно се провеждат множество културни и спортни прояви под егидата на общината.
