This
event cache is being held as part of Geocaching.com's official 10 year celebrations. The
link goes directly to their 10 years! event page.
The
event will be held, on the Saturday afternoon / evening, to allow
out of towners to attend. There is camping available (on my 1
hectare block) for those wishing to stay overnight. A BBQ dinner
will be the centre of attraction and a nominal time of 5:30pm is
set, with dinner at 6pm.
That mysterious DVD, you know -
that one, as shown on Canadian and more recently,
Australian TV - will also be shown. There will also be prizes and
giveaways of geocaching resources. More details will be posted as
the date approaches.
There
is to be a kiwiana
theme and a photo of the attendees is required to meet the
Geocaching.com requirements for a '10 Years! Events' cache. A
unique icon will be assigned to this event and a logbook will be
provided at the BBQ to log attendance. Usual rules - no signature,
no log...
A
guided walk to the replacement cache for GC47, Divine Hiwiroa
(Waikato) by Zorgon will also be held on Saturday morning.
Depart event coordinates at 09:30, depart SH5 turnoff to Lake
Hiwiroa at 10:00. Expect to be out of the bush again by 12:30.
Please advise whether you are interested. Thanks.
Other
ideas are perambulating through my head and as they fall out of
formation, I will add them to the event listing.

Thanks KiwiLeon.
Due to a total geographical and timely coincidence, this 10
Years! Event was the first in the World! So to all attendees,
thanks and congratulations on a memorable experience.
Many Thanks to HexTheKiwi for their donation of 5 fantastic
Kiwi Geocoins; goblindust for his amazing personal geocoin;
kevsteam for their many micros and discount
cards for their new online shop - www.geocachers.co.nz; GenCuster for the coins, pins, cache containers
and misc. prizes. Also to those individuals - and you know who you
are - who made the event such a success by 'just doing stuff'.
Visitors: Cachers from Rotorua & Mamaku, Tauranga,
Whakatane, Taupo, Napier, Hastings, the Wairarapa, Hamilton,
Auckland (& the North Shore contingent?!?) and Seattle WA USA
attended. Cheers!

Can't get more kiwiana than this
A demolished BBQ after a hard days tramp.
Or this rare sighting...
Thanks KiwiLeon.
With kiwis, grocers, tikis, t-shirts, shorts, stubbies, Dick
Frizzell books, genuine 'blokes' and 'sheilas' and the token
overseas visitors, a truly kiwiana event was held. Thank you
all.
