Double Cross II Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Nomex: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

The return of Double Cross. This replaces the original that was wiped out in the creek flood in August '09. This is a short, 3-stage multi located along Dry Run Creek, just east of my Intra Arma Caritas cache. This is NOT a physically easy cache. If you are looking for a quick park 'n' grab or a leisurely trail stroll, this isn't it. Nothing about this course is easy.

This multi is not about hard-to-find stages. It is about hard-to-get-to stages. The first two stages are bison-sized micros with coords to the next stage. The final is a small lock-n-lock. Each of the three stages require a different kind of physical agility, and a different test of courage to get to.

The course is short, all three stages are within a 200 foot circle, so this is much shorter than the original Double Cross... But harder too, and the final will prove to be a new test of courage for some. Park near the parking coords, which are very close to the cache. Numbered parking spots are reserved, there are unnumbered spots scattered throughout the lot for guests. Please only park in unnumbered spots, and you are my guest.

This course is fully accessible right now, even with the high water. If Dry Run Creek were to overflow like the creek floods of August 2009, this would not be accesible. I do almost all my caching at night, but I cannot imagine running this course at night. Beware of varmint holes, they're everywhere and I step in them constantly. There is no "sandles and tennis shoes prohibited" button available but if I could require boots, I would. A willingness to get very dirty/muddy is a must, and shorts will be a really bad idea. And a high output flashlight is essential, you'll see why.

This course involves steep grades, some shallow but moving water, enclosed spaces, and some exposure to heights. This is not for everyone, cache at your own risk.

Left a silver dollar and hat-clip LED flashlight for FTF; Hat-clip LED flashlights for STF and 3TF.
