The Grasslands Community Trail is approximately 14 km long and
winds its way through dry Douglas-fir forests and wide open
grasslands. It starts at the McQueen and Griffin Lake areas and
ends at the top of Ida Lane in Westsyde. Trails are a combination
of single and double track. Because of the length and isolation of
the trail, we recommend cachers partner up for safety.
There are 2 upper trailheads, one at these cache coordinates and
the other at the south end of McQueen Lake. Both starts take you
along McQueen Lake trails and bring you to the same junction (see
waypoint below). If you are starting from this cache, follow the
trail south along the east side of Griffin Lake and take the blue
diamond trail to the marked junction. Signs are scattered along the
route but we recommend printing the provided maps to make sure you
don't lose the trail because some map interpretation is required.
The series of 13 caches placed along the way will help keep you on
course.
The cache is a small camo'd lock n' lock. A bigger copy of the
overview map and more information about the park is available at
