Somebody has to be brave enough to do this, so I guess it's
going to be me.
New cachers, get a clue! It takes no brains at all to hide a
cache in a rock wall, or in ivy or cedar (both of which cause
allergic reactions in many people), or in salal or other brush, and
it's environmentally irresponsible to throw a micro into a woodland
full of sensitive mosses and ferns. It is not clever, it is not
cute, and no one likes searching for these types of caches.
Geocaching is supposed to be fun. Read the big print, people!
THESE HIDES ARE
NOT FUN!
Experienced cachers, you are encouraged to go no-holds-barred
when writing your log for this Crappy Hide. Here is your chance to
educate the upcoming generation of geocachers in proper caching
ethics. Tell it like it is! Let the world know that you HATE this
type of hide! In fact, I would not be surprised if you filed at DNT
for this particular cache - Did Not Try. Frankly, I'd be tempted to
walk away from it myself.
Don't get your hopes up. I'm not talking about fake dog poop,
no. This is a genuine example of what geocaches should NOT be, and
I wouldn't put my name to the page except that someone with
experience needs to make a statement now, before the problem gets
any worse. Speak out against Crappy Hides!
I'm not going to give you a hint on the cache page because it's
a Crappy Hide. The coords may be off because I didn't take the time
to average 150 readings for accuracy as I would normally do. After
all, it's a Crappy Hide. Likewise, the ratings may be off. I'm
convinced my Crappy Hides are easy to find because I didn't have
any trouble finding them again. You also may have noticed that the
caches in this series are micros. In these settings, that
constitutes a Crappy Hide. (No, I am not going to take you into
sensitive areas, and I'm not going to put out a whole string of
these. I'll spare you that.)
If you go for this Crappy Hide and decide you do need a hint,
file a DNF and write to me. It may be a Crappy Hide, but I am a
responsible cache owner and will be glad help you out so you don't
waste any more time looking in places you hate to search. Just do
me one favor...try not to damage anything while you're looking for
it.
