Geocache Description:

GeoCaching 101 / 201 Event at Wickiup Hill Outdoor Learning Center.

When: Saturday, 22 May 2010
Where: Wickiup Hill Outdoor Leaning Center (10260 Morris Hills Rd, Toddville, IA 52341)
Price: $2.50/adult, $1/child 16 and under, or $5/family. (For one or both classes)

Schedule:
11:00am - Noon: Potluck, eat and talk to other GeoCacher's
Noon - 1:30pm: GeoCaching 101 (Introduction to GeoCaching & finding some Cache's)

* What is a GPS and how does it work?
* Looking up a GeoCache
* Marking a Waypoint
* History of GeoCaching
1:30pm - 2:30pm Lets go find some Cache's!
There will be ten (pre-loaded) GPS' available for those that need one.
There will be ten (10) Temporary Cache's Placed for this Event.

2:30pm - 3:00pm Break & Re-Group

3:00pm - 4:30pm: GeoCaching 201 (Paperless GeoCaching + a few other tricks)

* How do I download a Pocket Query?
* What can a Pocket do for me?
* What is GSAK?
* Uploading your Pocket Query to GSAK
* Using GSAK and your Pocket Query to load waypoints (Cache's) on to your GPS.
* Using GSAK and your Pocket Query to load waypoints (Cache's) on to your PDA .
No more printing out the Cache listing!
{Note: this topic does not include the use of a Pocket PC for Paperless Caching}
* Creating a "Route" using Pocket Queries from anywhere (Using GoogleEarth & GeoCaching.com)
This will create a "Route" Pocket Query from point "A" to point "B".
This is GREAT for GeoCaching during vacation trips and outings!
* Using your Pocket Query & Google Earth Tweaker to “show” where the Cache's are that are contained within your Pocket Query.

Note 1: You must be a "Premium" Member of GeoCaching.com to downlaod Pocket Quries.
(Requires a cost of $30 / year)
Note 2: GSAK is Free! Registered GSAK will cost $25.

A map & .gpx file of the "Temp. Cache's" will be posted two day(s) prior to the Event!
There will be a "logger" Permanent Cache for the Event.
This Permanent Cache will also be posted two days prior to the Event.
(it may not be an 'easy' Cache to find!)
