Geocache Description:

Small tupperware container placed along Haslar Sea Wall with brilliant views over the Solent. Bring your own pen/pencil. Free car park adjacent to cache. Terrain is flat right up to the last couple of metres - last part of the find is not suitable for wheelchair users or pushchairs.

This is a special birthday cache for Biggles, jelly's beloved bear, who turned 24 on March 20th 2010.

Biggles loves living aboard a yacht with jelly & James and even has his own red sea boots, so we decided to place this cache along the Haslar Sea Wall (finished in 1797), affording great views over the Eastern Solent and across to the Isle of Wight. The cache is placed to allow you the best views possible.

We often visit this area and have had a few BBQs here in the summer. It's very close to the Inner Swashway, used by small boats to enter and leave Portsmouth Harbour, so you may be lucky to catch a few sailing yachts go by very close to the shore. It's also a spectacular place to visit in a S/SE'ly gale - bring your waterproofs!

For your interest, standing at the cache and facing the sea, to port (your left) is the Haslar Immigration Removal Centre and to starboard (your right) is Fort Monckton, a Napoleonic fort in which the military guard of Haslar Hospital used to lodge. It is now used as the main training centre of the Secret Inelligence Service (MI6) - hence the CCTV, and the need for stealth! Beyond Fort Monckton is the Gosport & Stoke's Bay Golf Course.

Can you spot the anomaly in this area on Google Maps?

Cache is available all year round, 24/7. Please be wary of muggles, as it is popular with fishermen/women and dog walkers. Please be sure to hide the cache exactly as it was found.

Cache is a very small tupperware container. Please bring your own writing implement. Room for small swaps. Contents on placement:

- Tiny Winnie The Pooh teacup (Biggles is a bear, after all!)
- Small firefighter figurine
- Marble
- Tiny shell
- Medal for FTF

Happy birthday Biggles!
