Katsushika Hokusai's most important work "Fugaku Sanjurokkei" ("Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji" series) is a most important work of the ukiyoe landscape.
This series was published in year of Tempo of Edo period.
"Fugaku" is a meaning of Mt. Fuji.
It is a series where the spectacle in Mt. Fuji looked at from various places is drawn.
Ten pieces were announced by the addition because the work was popular, and the number became 46 in total though it was scheduled to be concluded by 36 pieces as shown in the name at first.
Hokusai at that time at the time of having announced the work was 72 years old.
This series is Hokusai's work in the late age.
The West art of painting told Japan has been taken at that time, and perspective has been used.
At that time, the people who were not able to travel readily had a critical belief to Mt. Fuji. Therefore, an explosive hit flew.
It is an ukiyoe that has a big influence on the artist in the world such as not only the country but also Gogh and Debussy.
It is only this "Shinshu Suwako" to draw Mt. Fuji seen from Shinshu in the series.
The Suwa lake is large drawn in the ukiyoe, and the Takashima castle is still drawn in the lakefront in the Suwa lake.
The island with the shrine drawn at the center is called "Benten-jima".
The shrine is a Benten Shrine with the cache point.
However, the place with the Benten Shrine now is not this place.
Benten-jima was an island that was able to be done in the waterway that had been built for the flood action of the Suwa lake.
However, because the flood was not calmed down, the island has been still removed.
When removing it, it was moved to a present place.

葛飾北斎の代表作、「冨嶽三十六景」は、浮世絵風景画の代表作でもあります。 このシリーズは江戸時代の天保年間に出版されました。
「冨嶽」は富士山を指し、各地から眺めた富士山の景観を描いているシリーズです。
当初は名前の通り36枚で集結する予定でしたが、作品が人気を集めたため追加で10枚が発表され、計46枚になりました。
発表当時の北斎は72歳と晩年期の作品で、西洋画法を取り入れていて、遠近法も活用されています。
当時、気軽に旅行が出来なかった庶民には、富士山に対する篤い信仰がありました。
そのため爆発的なヒットを飛ばしたのです。
国内のみならず、ゴッホやドビュッシーなど、世界の芸術家にも大きな影響を与えた浮世絵でもあります。
その中で信州から見た富士山を描いているのは、この「信州 諏訪湖」のみです。
諏訪湖が大きく描かれ、奥に描かれた高島城もまだ諏訪湖の湖岸にありました。
中央に描かれた祠のある島は、弁天島と言います。
祠は、キャッシュポイントの弁天社です。
しかし、現在弁天社のあるところはこの場所ではありません。
弁天島は諏訪湖の洪水対策のために作られた水路で出来た島でした。
しかし、それでも洪水が収まらなかったため、島も撤去されてしまいました。
撤去の際に現在の場所に移されました。
