Geocache Description:

This is the 8th cache in the series "The curse of the FTF Lincolnshire". The cache has been placed on the old Roman road Irmine street and part of the long distant footpath the Viking way.

The path to the cache is on a bye way. You can get close using a 4x4 however this would spoil a nice walk. The area is frequented by Walkers , Runners from near by R.A.F Cranwell as well as 4x4s and motorbikes mainly at the weekends. It is possible to cycle to the cache from either end of this part of Irmine Street. After rain the track can get muddy in places but is generally firm under foot. The track is not suitable for pushchairs or wheel chairs. If you have a dog this would be a good walk to let your pouch off and let it have a good run.

Parking is available at both ends of this part of Irmine street.

Ermine Street, Saxon name for the Roman road in Britain that ran from London to Lincoln and York. It was one of the four main highways of Saxon England. The name is derived from the Earningas, a group of people who inhabited an area in Cambridgeshire through which the road passed.

From the final location you have a good view over rural lincolnshire. You can often see planes and gliders flying from R.A.F. Cranwell. There is an abundance of wild life to be seen around here. Either side of the track is a protected wild life nature reserve.

The cache is a Lock’n’Lock plastic box containing a log book, pencil and other starting goodies. It can hold Travel Bugs and Geocoins.

There are a few "The Curse of the FTF" caches in the UK, the rules are really simple.
If you are the FTF for a cache in this series, the Geocaching tradition of this series invites you place another "The Curse of the FTF" cache within 30 days, therefore extending the series. Requests for this series are below:
1. FTF'er is requested to place the next cache in the series (The Curse of the FTF #8) within 30 Days! Otherwise the curse will prevent you from EVER getting another FTF again!
2. You are strongly urged to only be a FTF for this series once. This is to give others a chance to be a FTF'er.
3. Cache can be any type of cache (Puzzle, Multi, Regular, etc.)
4. Caches should be placed within the county of Lincolnshire!
5. By way of clarification, there is no requirement besides the standard signing of the cache log to prevent you from logging this cache when found.
Let’s see how far the series will go.........
