Over the last few years, I have scheduled many Kayak Events..but the old dogs who attended the first one say they enjoyed it the most. A nice leisure trip down a great river with a wonderful place for a picnic lunch. Since then, many people have joined geocaching and I thought they might like to give this a try.
Since summer is filling up, this is a save the date notice with Sunday Aug 22 as a rain date.
It is Summer Time And I Want to Mix My 2 Favorite Sports With My Friends! I invite you to join me for a kayaking/canoe trip down the Merrimack River. This river offers a variety of wild life and sandy beaches for a picnic lunch and a swim! It is the perfect river for both beginners and experienced boaters

TIME: Meet at the Boscawen Boat Launch at 9:30 AM 43.21.807 071.38.812
WHAT TO BRING: Boat, picnic lunch, GPS for event caches & TB trade. Children and Pets welcome (if you are renting they may not allow pets on the shuttle) (If you need to rent a boat, you will need to be at the rental office at 8:30 to fill out paperwork and be shuttled up river.)

You have a few options:
If you have your own Kayak/Canoe and 2 vehicles, you can leave one car at the Penacook Boat Launch: The Launch is 43.17.154 071.35.463
PARKING for the Launch is 43.17.129 071.35.354 you will want leave your car here so that you don’t block the boat ramp turn around.
NOTE: Don’t forget to bring the keys for this vehicle with you down river.
OR
You can go to the Contoocook River Canoe Company.
(603)753-9804 and they will shuttle you and your boat up stream and pick you up at the bottom (see contact info below) You will want to make reservations to be shuttled.
OR
If you need a ride back up river to get your vehicle, there will likely be people around who can help.
Please see me if you need assistance so that you don’t get left stranded.
DIRECTIONS TO THE BOSCAWEN BOAT LAUNCH STARTING OUR TRIP:
43.21.807 071.38.812 From I-93 North Take Exit 17 Take the US-4 W exit- (EXIT 17)- toward US-3 / PENACOOK / BOSCAWEN Turn RIGHT onto HOIT RD / US-4W. Continue to follow US-4 West. Stay STRAIGHT. DANIEL WEBSTER HWY RTE 4 West will merge with US-RTE 3 North. In Boscawen, you will come to a Y where Rte 4 West and Rte 3 North will separate. Stay right on Route 3 North. At the Bottom of the Hill just after the Merrimack County Nursing Home you will see a
boat launch sign. Turn Right at the sign. There is a small building there. Follow the dirt road to the river.
DIRECTIONS TO THE PENACOOK BOAT LAUNCH TAKE OUT AREA:

From I-93 North Take Exit 17 Take the US-4 W exit- EXIT 17- toward US-3 / PENACOOK / BOSCAWEN At the blinking light turn left towards Penacook onto Harris Hill Road Turn left onto Maccoy St. (Second left) Turn left onto Merrimack St. At the End of Road you will see RIVCO company directly in front of you. Turn to the left of the building and follow the dirt road to the boat ramp.

You will need to be at the Contoocook River Canoe Company by 8:30 am to sign papers and watch a safety video if you are renting a boat. The shuttle leaves at 9:00 AM and it will get you to the Boscawen boat launch to meet the rest of the Folks by
9:30 AM
Directions to the Contoocook Canoe Company from I-93
From I-93 North take Exit 17. At the bottom of the ramp take a right onto Route 4 West towards Penacook/Boscawen. At the blinking light turn left following the sign to Penacook on Harris Hill Road. Go to Stop Sign. At the Stop Sign turn left onto Route 3 South. Take the second Right onto Washington St. Follow Washington St. to the stop sign (it changes names, just keep going till the stop
sign) At the Stop Sign Take a Right onto Horse Hill Rd. Cross the Bridge. Contoocook River Canoe Company, LLC is the first building on the left.

From I-93 South, take Exit 15W. At the second set
of lights, take a right hand turn (45 degree turn) onto North Main Street (Rt. 3 North). Continue on this road past the NH State Prison until you come to a fork in the road. Bear left at the fork onto Fisherville Road (Rt. 3 North). Take a left onto Bog Road which is 2.2 miles from the Prison. At the end of Bog Road, continue straight over the bridge onto Horse Hill Road. Contoocook River Canoe Company, LLC is the first building on the left.
Directions from I-89 (These are back roads. You might want to consider going to Concord and following I-93 directions) From I-89 North or South take exit 6. Head North on Route 127 for 1.3 miles to stop sign. Take a right hand turn at stop sign onto Route 103 East. Go 0.3 mile and bear left onto Penacook Road. At stop sign, .3 miles, take a left hand turn. Go 1.9 miles until you come to a crossroads. Take a right onto East Penacook Road. Go to the end of East Penacook Road (2.4 miles) and take a right hand turn onto Horse Hill Road. Contoocook River Canoe Company, LLC is 1.5 miles on the right hand side before the bridge.

responsible for transporting them to the event.
