Come join the Dweebs@Large and Central Texas' finest geocachers in a celebration of our favorite sport/hobby/recreation/obsession/past time/leisure activity and its 10 year anniversary. And... pick up a special, limited icon in the process.

A mere 10 years ago, Selective Availability, an intentional degrading of GPS signals implemented by the US government for security purposes, was done away with. This meant that global positioning technology owned and operated by individuals and corporations in the private sector became much, much more accurate and practical. One individual, Dave Ulmer, seized the opportunity by hiding a 5-gallon bucket full of swag that would come to be known as The Original Stash and posted the coordinates for others to find. And find it they did! Ten years, about 4 million cachers and over 1 million caches later, we come together to celebrate this fun and family friendly activity.

This momentous occasion will be celebrated at Dana Peak Park on Stillhouse Lake. The official start will be at 12 noon, though I look to be there a bit earlier, setting up. The midday start will give cachers the opportunity to snag some local caches before and/or after the event. The theme for the event will be Hawaiian Luau/Polynesian in nature. Tambie98 will be whipping up some Hawaiian cooking, but everyone is encourage to bring a dish and or beverage of their choosing, regardless of its origin. Everyone is encourage to dress festively and be imaginative. Admission to the park is $4.00 per car load. Carpooling is encouraged.
