Geocache Description:

A traditional cache placed along a walking and biking track in Nelson's Grampian hills.

This cache is named for the hills in which it is placed and also appropriately as I tried to place it on a different track but found it was too close to one of the other caches that stud these hills.

The cache is a 400ml camo Sistema with log, pencil, eraser, sharpener and room for small swaps.

The cache is placed on a side track which seems to me to be a short cut between the Mahoe and Kahikatea tracks and is accessible from a number of directions. The quickest way to it is via the Mahoe track. Start from the car park in Bishopdale. The Mahoe track is more exposed and less of a bush walk than the Kahikatea track but does provide some nice views over Nelson along the way.

Most walkers should be able to get to the cache and back to the car park in well under an hour. You can also use a bike on this track.

Last couple of metres to the cache could be a bit of a scramble.

Enjoy.

UPDATE 27/4/14 - checked on this cache after the recent DNFs and bad weather. There are a few trees down across the track but the cache is still accessible. Approaching from below - a few metres before the cache head up to the left and you will find a mild bush bash to the cache, which is visible when you get close enough..
