NEDERLANDS: Deze
multi brengt je doorheen enkele heel mooie landschappen in
Mespelare en Oudegem. Je wandelt onder andere via een tweetal écht
trage wegen, de plattelandse velden en de dender met zijn sas en
stuw. De multi start aan de Mespelaarse Sint-Aldegondiskerk
uit de 12e eeuw. De kerk telt slechts 21 klokken, met een totaal
gewicht van 381 kg en een basklok van 38 kg. Hiermee is hij de
lichtste handbespeelbare beiaard van België. De beiaard is bekend
als een der zuiverste van het Vlaamse land. In de volksmond wordt
hij ook wel "De pareltjes van Mespelare" genoemd.
Je passeert langs minstens één andere (makkelijke) traditionele
geocache. Hou er rekening mee dat er tijdens de winter of
regenachtige periodes een modderige ondergrond kan zijn. Het is
mogelijk de multi met de buggy af te leggen (hetgeen wij deden bij
het verkennen, leggen en meermaals maintainen), maar het kan op
enkele plaatsen wel wat lastiger zijn (bv. als je door het veld
moet of via smalle paadjes). Zoals eerder aangehaald passeer je
enkele trage wegen. Voor één trage weg moet je dwars door
het veld (normaliter is er een paadje zichtbaar als je goed kijkt).
Met de fiets wordt deze iets moeilijker (tenzij je afstapt en even
te voet verder gaat).
De multi kreeg moeilijkheid 3 mee, er zitten toch wel enkele
moeilijke waypoints tussen, maar de tips verklappen veel (alleszins
meer dan in het begin). We geven jullie wel mee dat het testen van
jullie kennis van Romeinse cijfers en jaartallen, handig kan zijn!
Dat komt van pas op één WP. Enkele tips werden toegevoegd op 23 mei
2010, nog een reeks tips op 21 april 2011. Zit je écht vast, dan
kan je ons proberen te bereiken op +32(0)473/36.81.93 (liefst enkel
in het weekend of buiten de normale werkuren).
Je kan de auto parkeren op het dorpsplein van Mespelare, vlakbij de
Sint-Aldegondiskerk. Meestal zijn hier, of in de zijstraten, wel
plaatsen beschikbaar. Het startpunt (WP1) brengt je reeds direct op
de eerste trage weg (padje naast de wei). In totaal zijn er 10
waypoints en de uiteindelijke stash. De tocht is een goede 5 km
lang. Het betreft een regular, er is dus ruim plaats voor coins en
travelbugs. De cache zit ook boordevol leuke trade items voor de
jongere geocachers onder ons. Wees voorzichtig bij het zoeken, deze
streek kent veel wandelaars en fietsers, stop alle te zoeken
punten dus ook goed terug! Respecteer de natuur en maak ook de
paardjes vlakbij de cache niet te angstig. De cache zit in een
keldertje in de grond. Handig om weten: op het dorpsplein is een
cafeetje waar je iets kan drinken of eten.

coordinaat!
WP2: Hier vind je 'een datum' terug. Deze datum is AB C
DEFG. Je volgende coordinaat is N51°0.B(A+A+D)F E4°4.GDA
WP6: Deze NV heeft een opschrift op de gevel. Neem het
eerste woord en gebruik de letterwaardes (L1 staat voor de
letterwaarde van de eerste letter, met A=1,B=2,...). Je volgende
coordinaat is N51°0.(L1-1)(L7)(L4)

WP9: Hier vind je exact twee data: van STUV tot WXYZ. Je

ENGLISH: This multi
will take you to some nice views in the villages Mespelare
and Oudegem. You will walk across two "slow roads" (walking/biking
only), some farmers fields and the river "De Dender". The multi
starts at the Sint-Aldegondischurch of Mespelare, founded in
the 12th century. The church only has 21 bells, with a total weight
of 381 kg and a bass (bell) of 38 kg. This makes it the lightest
carillon (which can by played by hand) of Belgium. The carillon is
known as one of the purest in the Flemish area. It is often
referred to as "The pearls of Mespelare".
You will pass along at least one other (easy) traditional geocache.
Keep in mind that during winter or rainy periods, the ground can be
muddy! It's possible to walk the multi with a childrens buggy
(which we did when exploring, placing and maintaining the cache),
but on some places it might take some additional effort to continue
(e.g. when you need to pass a farmers field or when paths become
quite small). As mentioned before, you will pass by some "slow
roads". One of these roads (paths) will take you through the
middle of a farmers field (if you look carefully, you will notice a
path). Doing this cache by bike will be difficult, unless you don't
mind walking some meters with the bike next to you.
This multi has difficulty 3, as we experience some waypoints as
"not too easy" (but the hints will make it easier). One hint: it
could be a good idea to check your knowledge on Roman numerals and
years before starting the cache! This will be useful on one WP!
Some hints were added on May 23th 2010, additional hints were added
on April 21st 2011. If you are really stuck, you can try to contact

normal working hours).
You can park the car on the square of the village Mespelare, nearby
the Sint-Aldegondischurch. You will find some parking spaces in
this neighbourhood or in the streets nearby. The starting point
(WP1) immediately brings you to the first "slow road" (next to the
meadow). In total, we have 10 waypoints and the final stash.
The walk will have a distance of +- 5 km. The box is a regular
size, so there should be enough space for coins and travelbugs. The
box is full of nice trade items for the youngest geocachers. Be
careful when searching, this region has a lot of walkers and
bikers, please put everything back so it cannot be discovered by
coincidence. Respect the nature and don't scare off the horses
near the cache. The cache is hidden in a small basement in the
earth. Useful to know: near the church, you can find a small pub
where you can drink or eat something.
