Greetings,

It has been a while since I first looked at this cache. I can't find any recent responses about maintaining this cache so for the time being it will be archived and removed from the active cache listings. We are no longer leaving caches stay disabled for extended periods of time.

Groundspeak and the geocaching community appreciate your contributions to geocaching and I hope to see this cache back in operation soon.

If you can get it back up and running in the next week or so contact me to get it re-listed. Otherwise plan to move it slightly and set up a new cache page.

[green]Most problems can be solved with good communication so reply back to the reviewer and we will do everything possible within the guidelines to get your cache published. It is best to give me as much information as possible instead of saying nothing at all. This will speed up the process and we can get your cache published. [/green]

Geocache Description:

Welcome to Bellefontaine Conservation Area. Here's a chance to explore a hidden little gem in North County.
This tract of land was previously owned by the Missouri Department of Mental Health and was transferred to the Conservation Department in 1995. The Conservation Department was interested in this property because it provided a unique opportunity for urban fishing and conservation-related educational facilities. The area is open daily from sunrise until one-half hour after sunset.

Congratulations to N0NWV for FTF!
There is plenty of paved parking available. To hunt for this cache you can walk a short distance on some old crumbling pavement before heading cross-country. Depending on the mowing schedule the brushy grass may be long or short, but the terrain is mostly level. There is a bit of bushwhacking involved. The slightly elevated difficulty rating is because of the off-path walk and bushwhack. Not stroller or wheelchair friendly.
You are looking for a medium size lock-n-lock that is camo'd to blend with its surroundings. Cache contains the customary logbook & writing utensil in a zipbag, some trinkets & things kids would like, some nifty things cachers may want to keep in their backpack, and a special zipbag with prizes for the FTF. I'm starting the cache with my own travelbug so I hope it disappears soon.

Thanks to Tom Leifield of the Missouri Dept of Conservation for a special- use-permit allowing me to place this cache.
The area is sometimes used for school field trips, Conservation Dept educational programs, and by local fishermen on the northernmost pond. You may encounter muggles but this CA is truly a hidden gem. Bring your fishing pole & picnic lunch to enjoy at one of the tables under the shelter. Also, its a wonderful place for a kite-fly, or some quiet birdwatching. And there are great views of downtown from here.
