Geocache Description:

My humans said I had too many toys at home. Hrrrrmmmpf! Like that can really happen! I decided to hide some of them in the woods near my home. I don't mind if someone wants to come and trade one of their toys for one of my toys though. Please hide my toy box back like you found it when you get through trading.

Barry the Geocaching Bear

The cache is located a short distance off Bodcau's John Haygood Nature Trail.

From Shreveport, take I-20 East to the Haughton/Fillmore exit. Turn left and head north through Princeton (past the Calumet plant) and on into Bellvue. Then follow the signs to the Bodcau Dam and Recreation area. (Turn right at Tooties Bar and Grill.)

You will need to drive across the dam to get to this cache. The road is now all blacktop. As you near the other end of the dam, you will turn to the left to veer off the dam (in the direction of the Bodcau shooting range). When you reach the bottom of the dam, turn left. On your left right next to the dam, you will see trucks and equipment for the Corps of Engineers. Up ahead, you will see the Durden House Environmental Education Center. The coordinates for the Nature Trail parking lot are: N 32° 42.381 W 093° 31.112

At the parking lot, you will see a small brown sign for the John Haygood Nature Trail. The trail is paved all the way around. Length of the trail is about 3/4 of a mile. The trail loops around and comes right back to the parking lot.

For more information on this area click on the Related Web Page link above.

The paved nature trail is easy to walk. However, the trail is not getting much use. Leaves and small fallen limbs cover the trail in some places. But it is a very pretty hike that won't take much out of you. Along the trail, there are signs identifying trees and other items of interest. There is also a nice pier built out over a small pond.

About half way around the loop, look for the old cemetery. There are some neat old tombstones dating back to the late 1800s and early 1900s. Some of the gravesites are in a clearing and some are in heavy brush.

Stay on the paved trail until the closest spot to the cache. The cache is not hard to get to in the winter, but during the spring and summer, you should probably watch for thorns, snakes and poison ivy. If you go in the summer, apply insect repellant.

Congratulations on the First-To-Find go to CajanCacheMan, Sequoia_2, Lil' Tumbleweed and Doxie the cache hound.
