Geocache Description:

On May 3, 2000 Dave Ulmer placed the very first geocache, a black bucket, in the woods near Beaver Creek, Oregon, near Portland. Along with a logbook and pencil, he left various prize items including videos, books, software, a can of beans and a slingshot. He shared the waypoint of his "stash" with the online community on sci.geo.satellite-nav, and Geocaching was born!

Within a day, the original stash had been found. Within days, more stashes had been hidden in California, Kansas, and Illinois. Within a month, a stash had been hidden as far away as Australia. The hobby was fast on its way to being a worldwide phenomenon.

Presently, there are over one MILLION active geocaches around the world, and a common bond between the 3-4 MILLION of us that geocache!

Geocaching is now turning 10 years old!

Come and join us for the celebration. The event will begin at 7pm at Puerto Vallerta in Southington, CT.
826 Queen St
Southington, CT 06489

Per the 'requirements' needed in order to gain the special icon , we'll need a few large signs, or (preferably) a LARGE banner to hold up during the group picture at 7:30pm. The sign should have the location name and coordinates. If you can help with the banner, please let me know!

Anyone is welcome to attend...you don't have to reside in CT, and you certainly don't have to be an experienced cacher... new folks are most welcome! Let us know if this is your first event as we'd like to get acquainted.

THANKS EVERYONE FOR ATTENDING AND MAKING THIS A SUCCESS
