I5CB: The Old Building Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

elrojo14: We were in San Francisco for the 97th Annual National Council for the Social Studies Conference which ended today and now it is time to Geocache our way back to Taft.

On my way home I decided to go ahead and pull and archive these caches. This was another cache with an interesting history. It was originally an ammo can, then the final container lasted the rest of it's life. I last saw it up on the fence, but this time found it in a SPOR by a post. And all the last times I have been through here have been in the dark and never see the buildings again.

Geocache Description:

The .50 caliber ammo can with swag, log, and pens has been muggled and replaced by the wonderful Rat & Mushroom with a pill bottle container.

One day while traveling down I-5, I took the detour onto Derrick Avenue and Coalinga-Mendota Road to get two caches. I realized that this little stretch of road would be a great place to have a series of caches for weary travelers who might need a break from either northbound or southbound I-5.

This I-5 Cache Bypass is 15.5 miles long and adds an extra 3.2 miles to your overall trip. It currently has 15 caches along the route and I would welcome other cachers to add more quality caches along this route and join the fun.

This cache is located near an old dilapidated building along the Coalinga-Mendota Road. The best I can tell is it used to be some sort of pump house based on the wheel that is on the far side of the building. There is no need to cross the fence onto private property to find the cache. Just enjoy it from afar.
