A hide to commemorate the growing up times on the loop. Our campsite was actually near the western end of the bridge at Red Bridge. which is no longer red. Why a lantern, well read my wife's story below.
A boy and a girl spend every summer weekend along the Mountain Loop Hwy east of Granite Falls. We explored the same caves, we swim the same pools, but we never meet until we both worked for the same Herfy’s in south Everett. He even knew about the night the lantern was stolen off the wing of my dad's '59 Chevy. We ended up living on the Mountain Loop for over 20 years. Our oldest son's first job was at the ranger station, a bike ride away from the yard.
From the time we were married to the day we moved back to town, with the exception of unplanned summer hikes, we did not camp the loop. Why would we? It was home, we camped other places. After such a long time the rasp of a Stellar Jay on a drizzly day feels like home.
Congrats to Hagz D Pirate, Debbie and Corvette Kent for the CO-FTF
