The wife and I were visiting Big Bear from San Diego and placed two caches along the Cougar Crest Trail. Terrain isn't unbearable, but bring plenty of h2o on warm days and look out for potentially dangerous critters as you hike in the warmer months.
You are looking for a camo'd peanut jar. Coords were taken w/ a Garmin 60csx and averaged over 6 minutes to an accuracy of 6.2 feet.
