Geocache Description:

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Geocaching. Where better than at Tintagel home to King Arthur (obviously) as well as home to I believe Cornwall's oldest cache.

The location given is for the meeting spot at 1pm on the Sunday, though I'm suggesting everyone walks in from a number of different locations. Parking is available in Tintagel, but Trebarwith Strand would give a nice coast walk, or from Bossiney where there's parking for a few cars.



Mike of the Molinnis Crew, has written a short note on Cornish Caching history a while back, I reproduce it below:
The first cache placed in Cornwall was Tintagel Castle on the 2nd Sept 2001, placed by "Lunchbox" (A team of five friends based in Kiev, Peterhead and Abu Dhabi) who are still active today. The first to find was by "Keppy" on the 8th October 2001. (How many caches last over a month unfound today). To date this has had 165 logs. The first Cornish Cacher was Mo and Mike of "Moorlander" fame, who originally cached under the name of "Seafarer" joining on the 3rd October 2001. They changed their name to "Moorlander on the 16th Jan 2002. Their first cache was Tintagel castle finding it on the 28th October 2001. Rob (Nawtcher) was the second cornish cacher joining on the 17th February 2002 and finding his first cache (Tintagel again) on the same day. Rob also placed the first two caches in Cornwall by a Cornish cacher on the 25th February 2002 (Cot Valley Cliff and Cot Valley Stones, Both virtuals now archived and situated in west Penwith).
