Geocache Description:


On June 16,1897, Fort Erie race track ran its inaugural races. The first race was won by a horse named Ellesmere. Fort Erie race track is acknowledged as one of the oldest and most picturesque race tracks in North America. It is distinguished for its famous infield that features stunning lakes and flowers. These features add charm and energy to horse racing events held at the race track.
113 years later this piece of our local history is still in operation, from the site where the cache is placed you can see the clubhouse and the 1 mile racecourse. .
Not meant to be a difficult hide, just think more people should be aware of history in our midst.
We did receive permission to place the cache at this site.
