How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Cache is hidden on a long stretch of a dirt road property known in the neighborhood as the “Red Car Property”. This “road” was once occupied by the Red Car Line of the Pacific Electric Railway System of years gone by. Developers have wanted to build here ever since but the community has fought them.

To find this cache, once you leave the pavement, drive down the dirt road (slowly please) and stop when you get to the gate. Park there and it’s a short walk in. Decode the hint and it will help. Cache will have Capt. Rose and a travel coin, a birthday coin I picked up in Kona for my birthday and some other booty.
Do not attempt to drive this dirt road after a heavy rain. You will get stuck. This is a child-friendly cache but as always keep your eyes open for unsafe trash and critters (human and otherwise).
Google calls this road Silver Lake Ct, approach from Riverside Drive.

BTW-There is a great empty field if you keep on walking. Perfect for running and exploring.

In fact this cache was placed in honor of the nursery school nearby which has inspired many, (including yours truly) to “find treasure” in the simple things, like perhaps geocaching.
This outdoor school is Los Angeles’s oldest cooperative preschool (est. 1939) and serves 30 families each year. Take a hike up the steps to admire its simplicity.
Please consider cache in trash out for this one. This is a well used spot and always needs some cleaning up. There’s even a trash can near where you parked.
