Bishop Park Monument. A great place to stop for a brew and a butty. On a clear day the views are amazing, so sit a while and enjoy!
Bishops Park Circular is a series of 9 geocaches that takes you from the start at Strinesdale Countryside Park up to the monument at Bishops Park. You will travel in a kind of figure of eight and retrace your steps for a short time on the way back before ending up on the opposite side of the reservoir before the finish. The walk is about 5 miles.
Parking (free!) is available at Strinesdale or up at Bishops Park if you prefer to start from there.
The stone obelisk was erected in 1928 in memory of William and Anne Bishop when fifty acres of their land was given to the people of Oldham to enjoy as public open space. At 1,233 feet above sea level, it is the highest point in Oldham.
