After winning the Sac-Joaquin Section Championship last year and
losing in the NorCal Finals, this season the Lady Trojans set out
to go even further than ever before. Although they were bumped up
to Division 1 this season (largest schools,) that didn't phase them
a bit and the "Barbie Squad" as they are known set out on a mission
to make it to the State Championship game in Bakersfield on March
27, 2010.
They beat Kennedy HS for the Sac-Joaquin Section Championship in
early March, then beat the top-ranked squad from Berkeley in the
NorCal finals on March 20th. This set them up to face the Four-time
defending Division 1 state champion Poly (Long Beach) Jackrabbits,
who were ranked as the #3 team in the nation and a heavy favorite
to be the first team ever to win 5 straight state
championships.
The Lady Trojans of El Dorado Hills, however, played their usual
steady, unflappable game against Poly, and came away with the first
Division 1 State Championship for any boys or girls basketball team
in Sac-Joaquin section history! Here's to the kids who thumbed
their noses at all nay-sayers and worked hard enough to earn the
right to say they are the best!!

Why this cache? My wife and I have both coached the Lady Trojan JV
and Frosh teams since 1998, and are unbelievably proud of these
girls for their achievements!
