Žemosios Panemunės I tūkst. - II tūkst. pradžios piliakalnis įrengtas prie Paausės upelio žiočių esančiame aukštumos kyšulyje. Iš P,V ir Š jį juosia upelio ir Nemuno slėnis. Šlaitai statūs, 25 - 30 m. aukščio. Į V - PR nuo piliakalnio, 7 ha plote yra papėdės gyvenvietė, kurioje rasta graikiška Romos imperatoriaus Marko Aurelijaus moneta, pasaginių segių ir jų dalių, apyrankės ir antkaklės fragmentai, susilydžiusio žalvario fragmentų, grublėtos ir lygios keramikos. Manoma, kad čia galėjęs būti prekybinis centras.
The hillfort of lover Panemune was established in the begining of the second millenium near the hillfort of river Paause on a cape. It is surrounded by Paause and Nemunasrivers from South, West and North. Slopes are steep , 25 - 30 m. height. To South - East of hillfort in 7 ha area there is a settlement, where a coin of Roman emperop Mark Aurelijus was found. There were also found horseshoe hooks fragments of bracelets and necklaces, rough and plain ceramics. It is thought, that this is a location of market centre.
