Grenade Hall Signal Station Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

CANDS37: S checked on the cache. Unfortunately, the cache has gone missing once again. It's a difficult hiding place and not somewhere that would be accidently found. Perhaps the monkeys know about it and have no interest in playing the game. So it's time to say goodbye to this cache. Thanks to everybody who made the effort to come and find this cache.

Geocache Description:

Grenade Hall Signal Station, located in the parish of St. Peter.

Grenade Hall is one of a series of six signal stations built in the early 1800's. These stations carried news across the island using flags and lantern codes. They were used to warn of approaching ships, cane fires and also slave rebellions on the island.

Grenade Hall was one of the links in the chain of signal stations, passing signals between the other five signal stations - Dover Fort (to the West) and Cotton Tower, Gun Hill, Moncrieffe and Highgate (all to the South). Of these, only the signal stations at Cotton Tower and Gun Hill remain.

The cache is located in the car park for the Grenade Hall Forest and signal station and Barbados Wildlife Reserve. Parking is free.

The cache is a 400ml lock-lock tupperware. Contains a badge for the FTF. Please replace the cache exactly as you found it. You may have to be stealthy as there can be lots of muggles around the location.

As with many caches on the island that are not in the centre of towns, this cache is best done during the daytime, when it is relatively safe.

Cache maintenance will be carried out a relative who lives locally.
