This cache has been archived.

ariwa: As Agent Morrison's breakfast location has been destroyed the bunker's whereabouts can no longer be found.

Agent Steve and Agent Liz removed the cache from the bunker at 16:35 this afternoon and are currently laying low to avoid terrorist attacks while they defuse the cache and elimate risks.

The cache will return soon in another location. No matrix will be required to be solved.

Geocache Description:

The coordinates given for this cache are a starting point. You will need to figure out the actual coordinates by completing the challenge presented.

Greetings, Agent. This mission is to find the secret stash of the infamous Al-Qeeda terrorist group. As you know, terrorism is rampant in recent times. The group believed responsible, Al-Qeeda, headed by Asoma bin Leeden, are believed to have an operation in New Zealand.

One of our local New Zealand operatives, Agent Morrison, was declared missing four days ago. He was searching for a hidden stash of supplies that could help us track down and capture the Al-Qeeda New Zealand operative. Unfortunately, Agent Morrison went missing before he was scheduled to complete the mission. Two of the agents in his team have been found dead and the remaining one is still missing, believed to be a double agent.

Al-Qeeda use an encoded matrix for communicating among themselves. Agent Morrison managed to decode the first series of matrices that his team intercepted. When decoded, these produced a series of numbers, believed to be a pointer to the location of a hidden bunker where the group keeps a stash of supplies. Due to the sensitive nature of this information, Agent Morrison did not relay the exact position to our Central Intelligence Bureau. His last transmission contained an encoded matrix that we believe will reveal the location of the terrorist supplies once decoded properly. However, it seems Agent Morrison was captured before he could complete the transmission and we only received the following partial, incomplete matrix:

-------------------------------------
|+3 |+1 |+4 |+1 |+6 |+6 |+1 |+3 |+3 |
-------------------------------------
|+2 | | | F | G | F | | | A |
-------------------------------------
|+1 | O | O | I | | | | M | |
-------------------------------------
|-0 | B | | | | | B | | |
-------------------------------------
|+0 | B | | | N | | H | T | |
-------------------------------------
|-1 | | C | | G | N | | | |
-------------------------------------
|-2 | O | | S | | G | | | |
-------------------------------------
|-3 |-3 |-1 |-2 |-2 |-3 |-4 |-2 |-1 |
-------------------------------------

We are also aware that the New Zealand operative of Al-Qeeda occasionally communicate amongst themselves using a method of encryption known as the Vigenère cipher. Two weeks ago Agent Morrison intercepted a complete transmission of ciphertext that was being sent from Al-Qeeda personell near the bunker. He immediately transmitted it to us in confidence, hoping our cryptographic experts would crack the code, as he believed that the text contains instructions to disarm a security system at the bunker. The ciphertext is:

174deg 48.916 37deg 00.128. 7 CHARS.
TCICFZZHBKLCFKMWITTLELBLGBJTNLJICGTTNZU
HVXNBLGBCXFBFCSWNLTKJFEIAAKPPFOEVLBPV
KAVUHHFIABVXUYMTCICFZZHBRCRJMOXRICEX

During the course of the day that we recieved the last transmissions, Agent Morrison had checked in regularly and met with some of his team members. We believe the location of these meetings contains important information that will complete the partial matrix above and reveal the location of the terrorist supplies. Agent Harris' last eight known locations and activities were:

Breakfast & check-in. A message was received during this transmission: "Mrs C's donuts are number one in my books! The bunker is very secure!"
E 174 52.857'
S 36 59.363'

Briefing with local agency.
E 174 37.750'
S 36 52.462'

Met with Agent Joe, now dead, to retrieve vital supplies. A message was received during this transmission: "At last I've done it! This mission must be done by the numbers."
E 174 50.029'
S 36 53.436'

Met with Agent Rangi at his abode to brief him on local anti-terrorist efforts.
E 174 51.262'
S 36 57.757'

Monitoring suspect movements and activities. A message was received during this transmission: "Careful. Canine teeth are sharp."
E 174 58.278'
S 37 01.786'

Met with Mikey and Checked in.
E 174 39.978'
S 36 53.681'

Retrieved extra supplies from local dealer.
E 174 52.639'
S 36 59.426'

Final transmission. Transmission was terminated abruptly and we only received the partial matrix above. The transmission originated at:
E 174 47.671'
S 36 55.323'

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to re-trace Agent Morrison's steps looking for clues that will lead you to the secret stash, complete the matrix using these clues, decode the matrix and the ciphertext above, and find the secret stash.

Once you locate the stash you must retrieve at least one item from it as evidence and leave another similar item in its place so that Al-Qeeda do not notice any difference. Log the swap in the logbook to make it seem like it was one of their own.

This message will self-destruct in 5 seconds.
