For all you early birds. Come start the day
with a hearty breakfast and celebrate 10 years of
Geocaching.
This event is part of a worldwide celebration
held between April 30-May 3, 2010 to celebrate 10 Years of
Geocaching! Each event that meets the guidelines will have a 10 year! event
icon!
It all started on May 1, 2000 when President Bill
Clinton announced that the scrambling of the satellite navigation
system, known as Selective Availability (SA), would be turned off.
On May 2, 2000, at approximately midnight, eastern savings time,
twenty-four satellites around the globe processed their new orders,
and instantly the accuracy of GPS technology improved tenfold. On
May 3, 2000 the first geocache was hidden and had it's coordinates
posted on the internet. A short time later it was found and this
sport we all love was born.
