Aldina Fire Tower. It was built in the '60's. This is one of two fire towers that I know of still standing near Thunder Bay. This tower is 99 feet tall. The structure is steel which is still in excellent condition. The structure, or cupola, at the top is mainly made of wood, which is fairly weather beaten. The floor is not to be trusted, be careful if you go up the tower. THE CACHE IS NOT UP THE TOWER, there is no need to climb it, this is not recommended.
The Aldina Fire Tower is visible from Boreal Road. However, the way to access this cache is off of Hwy 588. From Thunder Bay, drive west on 11/17, then turn on hwy 588. Pass through Stanley, and Nolalu. Very shortly after passing hwy 593, turn north on North Sideroad. After this point, follow the directions on this website, they are good: (visit link) . There is a first to find prize.
