Gambassi Terme sorge lungo la valle del fiume Elsa.
L'economia locale si basa prevalentemente sulla produzione di cereali, uva e olive e sull'attività di numerose industrie alimentari, di lavorazione del legno e delle materie plastiche. Anche il turismo occupa un posto di rilievo grazie alla presenza di ottime sorgenti termali e di numerose e qualificate strutture alberghiere.
Il borgo di Gambassi Terme ha origini remote, si presume infatti che nel Neolitico la località fosse già popolata.
Tuttavia la fondazione di Gambassi Terme avvenne in epoca etrusco-romana, quando sorsero i primi insediamenti in prossimità di importanti assi viari, tra i quali la 'Via Francigena'.
Nel 1322 Gambassi Terme divenne una Podesteria Fiorentina e nel corso dello stesso secolo accrebbe la propria economia dedicandosi anche alla lavorazione del vetro.
Tra i monumenti di maggiore rilievo a Gambassi Terme citiamo qui la Chiesa Parrocchiale, la Pieve di Santa Maria a Chianni, il Parco Comunale e le Terme.
Lo stabilimento termale e centro benessere 'Acqua Salsa di Pillo' (situato nella piazza presso il '2° passo' di questa multy) è avvolto da un incantevole parco di piante secolari, l'edificio delle terme è stato completamente ristrutturato tra il 2002 ed il 2003 e mette a disposizione un ambiente accogliente e funzionale, offrendo ai clienti un'ampia gamma di servizi termali, terapeutici, ed estetici.
Tra le numerose manifestazioni che si svolgono periodicamente a Gambassi Terme segnaliamo la 'Mostra–Mercato di prodotti tipici' che si tiene annualmente nell'ultima settimana di agosto e che prevede l'allestimento di stand espositivi presso i quali è possibile ammirare oggetti d'artigianato locale e degustare gli ottimi prodotti tipici locali.

Gambassi Terme is located along the valley of the river Elsa.
The local economy is mainly based on the production of cereals, grapes and olives and activity of many food industries, woodworking and plastics. Tourism also plays a major thanks to its excellent thermal springs and numerous and qualified hotels.
The village of Gambassi Terme has ancient origins, it is assumed that in the Neolithic village was already inhabited.
However, the foundation of Gambassi Terme occurred in the Etruscan-Roman times, when the first settlements were built close to major roads, including the 'Via Francigena'.
Gambassi Terme in 1322 became a Podestà Fiorentina during the same century increased its economy also dedicated to glass processing.
