Texas County Challengers Grip & Grin! Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

DE_Cryptoman: Well, by now I hope everyone has made their posts. All that attended made this a very memorable event and I look forward to our next get together. There are several bugs shown as being at this event. There was NO bug/coin bucket so everyone will have to retrieve their trackables. I think when I archive that you will receive a MISSING notification. Don't know how you handle it but I cannot leave this open indefinitely. Since the event, there have been two more finishers --- Entwined55 and TeamTerz. Both are being vetted and looking forward to signing the final log for the Challenge. Hope to see them next year with more as well. GO CACHERS GO!.

Geocache Description:

A clan gathering for finders, finishers, friends, followers, and fresh faces who have an interest in Geocaching in general and the Texas County Challenge specifically! When: 11:00 to 13:00 -Saturday, May 22, 2010 Where: Rudy's Country Store & Bar BQ 2510 Circle Road Waco, TX 76706-3300 (254) 750-9995

A clan gathering for finders, finishers, friends, followers, and fresh faces who have an interest in Geocaching in general and the Texas County Challenge specifically!

On January 6th, 2006, a diabolical cacher (M-T-P) dreamed up the Texas County Challenge [GCRX6F]. It makes the Delorme Challenges look like a walk in the park. Since that fateful day, there are at least 21 individuals that have either been confirmed or are moments from being confirmed as finishers of that challenge. And from watching the logs, there are many more in the wings. So, 1597 days from the date of placing that cache, it seems like a good time to have a clan gathering at a pleasant BBQ place in Waco, TX.

Actually, we wanted to rent a party boat and go to the actual coordinates posted on the cache description page that are in the middle of Lake Waco but the kitty [do we have a kitty?] is just a little shy of the funds to finance that idea.)

Gathering will start at 11:00 CST and will break up tentatively at 13:00 CST but hey; cachers do what cachers do. The establishment has set aside an area (enclosed and ventilated) for us and there will be three meats and three sides available in the area separated from the lunchtime crowd at the front of the establishment. NOTE as of 2010-05-21 at 11:00: I originally understood that there would be a register here. There is not a register! There will be a CACHE (CASH) BOX for donations for the meal. It is a three meat/three side buffet in our area for us but will be paid for by one check. Guess that means it is mine but all donations would be appreciated. You were planning to eat weren't you? Sorry for the short notice. We will have direct access to the patio as well.

Not sure of everything that will take place but we plan on a sign for taking your photos with your caching handles, a list of local caches that will actually hold tradeables and other swag, a list of some of the virtuals in the area, a whole bunch of yarn swapping, tall tale telling, knee slapping, back patting, and anything else that seems natural to a collection of some of the finest folk in the world; geocachers and their hostages.

Come one, come all, this event is long overdue and it is in the Heart of Texas so it should be pretty accessible to just about anyone and everyone. Hey, Waco even has an airport if you want to fly in! And there are caches out there too!

Drop a line if you have any questions and watch this space for any updates. Please let us know if you think you will attend so that we can keep our friend Rudy up-to-date relative to the number of folk to feed and water.
