This is the first in a series of caches that I hope to get up in fairly short order to honor the memory of my Great-grandfather, the Rev. David F. Glovier. He served as pastor on the Augusta Charge for the Evangelical United Brethren Church. During his ministry, he officiated at over 1900 weddings which earned him the local title of “The Marrying Preacher.” The church at this location was called Belmont at the time when he preached there. It was remodeled under his charge and eventually added on to as well. For more information on this church and all of the other churches in the Conference, check out the history authored by my Great-grandfather, Rev. David Glovier entitled, Pictorial History of the Virginia Conference.
Thanks to Pastor Heinrich for allowing us to put a cache here. Be sure to avoid meeting times as a courtesy to the church. Please help us to not disturb the congregation and the landscaping so that we can keep this cache active here.
