There's Something About Mary: The Queen of Hearts Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

AggieMD: Due to local construction, this one is now gone. [:(] Apparently, the workers decided tearing down perfectly good trees was also necessary. [:(!] Because I will be moving soon, I have no plans to relocate this cache unless requested. Thanks to all those who were able to solve this one.

This is #19 in a series honoring and celebrating movies, both good and bad.

An awkward and shy teenager named Ted Stroehmann (played by Ben Stiller) lands his dream prom date with the beautiful Mary Jensen (Cameron Diaz), only to have it cut short by a painful and embarrassing zipper accident that sends him to the hospital. After that, they lose touch with each other and Mary moves away.

Thirteen years later, Ted is still in love with Mary and continues to think about her. On the advice of his friend Dom (Chris Elliott), he hires a sleazy private detective named Pat Healy (Matt Dillon) help him find her. Healy soon finds Mary living in Miami as an orthopedic surgeon with her friend Magda (Lin Shaye). However, Healy falls in love with the irresistible Mary as well. Healy resorts to lying, cheating, stalking and drugging Magda's dog to win Mary but is exposed by Mary's architect friend, the apparently crippled Tucker (Lee Evans). Tucker, however, turns out to be a fraud himself. He is really a pizza boy also in love with Mary. In fact, he drove away a potential rival Brett Favre (playing himself), whom Mary almost married.

Ted (aided by Dom) drives down to Florida and seems to have won Mary's love, until an anonymous letter exposes him being less than honest about his connection to Healy. While Ted confronts Healy and Tucker, Mary is confronted by Dom, who turns out to be her former boyfriend Woogie, who had "got weird on her" in college, setting up the original prom scenario. Having found out that Tucker also lied about Mary's former love interest, Brett Favre, Ted decides that Mary should be with Brett, as he was the only one who did not resort to lies to win Mary. After reuniting Brett and Mary, Ted leaves tearfully but Mary however chases after him, preferring him over Brett. The film concludes with the two engaging in a kiss while a guitarist (Jonathan Richman) who narrates/sings along all the story is accidentally shot by Magda's boyfriend who was trying to kill Ted so he could win over Mary.

This movie was released in 1998 and was directed by the Farrelly brothers.
