This is one to pick up when boating on the Stonycreek River. Take out is below border dam, and it is a short walk to the cache site.
This is our first attempt at hiding a cache, so we placed it close to one of our favorite places, border dam. The cache is downstream from the dam, on the Windber side of the Stonycreek.
I rated the container as small, but it is on the large end of the small scale, it is tubular, so wide swag won't fit into the container.
There are many places where you are allowed to put in for this cache, one place we use is the Conemaugh Township Ball field in Holsopple.
I'm not sure how many white-water fans are also into caching, but with the number of boats that we see on the river, there have to be a few of us out there.
We started the cache with some swag, and three travel bugs, one of which is in its first cache.
If hiking to this cache, continue less than a quarter mile to see the dam itself, along with a swinging bridge across the Stony Creek and the remnants of a coal tower.
Congratulations to LT Silverfox FTF!
