This
cache has been placed to celebrate 10 Years of Geocaching! It was
10 years ago this week that President Clinton declared the end of
Selective Availability for satellite signals. Then on May 3, 2000,
Dave Ulmer hid his "stash" (the very first and soon to be known
Geocache) near Portland Oregon and this awesome pastime we now call
Geocaching would soon become a viral sensation. Now, ten years
later, there are over 1 Million active caches
worldwide.
The
PalTrail series is a set of caches placed in various parks along
the Palatine Trail. The Palatine Trail is a bicycle, hiking and
nature trail connecting Harper College in the south, Deer Grove
Forest Preserve in the north and many Palatine Park District parks
in between. This series would make a great family outing with the
kids as there are numerous parks with play grounds and ball fields
along the way.
