Geocache Description:

This is our first cache and we hope you enjoy the spectacular scenery along the Cleveland Way.

Hayburn Wyke is a delightful and secluded bay 6 miles north of Scarborough. The surrounding woodland is protected as a nature reserve and managed by the National Trust and the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. Its most unusual feature is a twin waterfall which cascades over a rocky ledge onto the boulder-strewn beach. The cliffs are a haven for wildlife - badgers, foxes and even deer can be found, together with many other small mammals, birds and insects - it is also the home of a wide range of plants. The beach is an excellent place to find fossilised plants.

The walk to the cache can start at the Hayburn Wyke Inn where there is ample parking. You will then need to climb the 96 steps - it's a thigh burner! Please note that this cache could be accessed from those walking the Cleveland Way.

The word ' wyke ' is of Scandinavian origin and denotes a narrow inlet sheltered by headlands.

The cache is a lockable container. It contains a First To Find Yawp Signature Geocoin 43/100.
Other items are:
Aero Hounds Geocoin/Toy Car Keychain/ mini torch/notepad/two gold doubloons/yoyo/pen on lanyard/trolly keyring/bracelett/rubber/tumble stone plus a pad and pencil to sign.

Take time out to enjoy the view, but watch out for muggles.
