This cache is placed at the edge of the Alver Valley country park, near to the play area on Cherque Way. This cache can easily be combined with other caches in the area.
This cache can be reached in a variety of ways, either a quick cache and dash, or a longer walk around the Alver Valley park. The quick way: Park at N50° 48.447 W001° 11.397. This is a car park beside the roundabout on Cherque Way. From here it is a short walk to the cache. The long way: park near the recycling facility in Grange Road, N50° 47.827 W001° 10.171. From here it's about 1.5 miles to the cache, walking through the Alver valley park, crossing Apple Dumpling bridge. Occasionally, the river Alver will rise and make the bridge impassable without paddling. You can stay on Sandhills Lane (the old gravel pit road) almost all the way to the cache. The last section to the cache can be quite squishy underfoot and it might not be suitable for buggies or small bikes, particularly after a lot of rain. It's OK in the summer, when the ground dries out. If you encounter a pond or are getting very wet feet, you are probably approaching from the wrong direction. The cache is very close to the boundary of Lee-on-Solent golf course. The extent of the golf course is clearly outlined by planting and fences. *** There is no need to go onto the golf course. *** Please respect the boundary and do not stray. The cache container is a small plastic tub, covered in black tape. Cache contents are small swaps, log book, pencil. The cache is named after the original Travel Bug inside, long since lost on it's adventure. Currently the approach to the area is very muddy, slippery and wet. I strongly advise wellies and be prepared to get dirty.
