L'abbaye Saint Vaast Traditional Cache

Cette abbaye fut construite à Arras en la mémoire de Saint-Vaast et son corps y fut transféré en 667. Après quelques péripéties, ses restes furent transférés à la cathédrale d'Arras en 1227 qui jouxte l'abbaye.
Au XIIe siècle, le développement important des institutions et de l’économie grâce à l’abbaye Saint-Vaast permet à la ville de compter onze églises et de développer un commerce jusqu’à l’Orient grâce à l’industrie drapière.
Aujourd'hui les batiments de l'abbaye qui ont pris le nom de palais Saint Vaast, sont occupés par le musée des Beaux-Arts, une bibliothèque et et une médiathèque.Le musée: L'un des plus beaux musées de la région. A visiter pour son architecture unique, et pour ses collections, qui s'étendent de l'Antiquité au XIXe siècle. Le musée présente notamment les Mays de Notre-Dame de Paris, peints par les plus grands artistes du XVIIe siècle.
le musée est gratuit les premiers mercredi et dimanche de chaque mois.

This abbey was built to Arras in the memory of Saint-Vaast and his body was transferred to it in 667. After some events, his rests were transferred to the cathedral of Arras in 1227 which adjoins the abbey.
In the XIIth century, the development importing institutions and economy thanks to the abbey Saint-Vaast allows the city to count eleven churches and to develop a business to the East thanks to the industry cloth merchant.
Today the batiments of the abbey which took the name of "palais Saint Vaast", is occupied by the museum of the “Beaux Arts”, a library and and a media library. The museum: one of the most beautiful museums of the region. To visit for its unique architecture, and for its collections, which extend of the Antiquity in the XIXth century. The museum presents in particular Notre-Dame de Paris's Mays, painted by the biggest artists of the XVIIth century.
The museum is free first on Wednesday and Sunday of every month.
