Riserva Marina Plemmiro si estende a sud di Siracusa Punta Castelluccio e Punta di Milocca via Capo Murro di Porco è la punta della penisola nota come la penisola della Maddalena, un altopiano al livello massimo di 54 metri sul livello del mare Sulla costa si alternano affascinanti grotte con piccole pietre bianche e sabbia sputa. Protetto il mare rimase vergine ed è facile incontrare diverse specie di fauna mediterranea scomparse in altri luoghi. Da qui si può raggiungere con facilità le numerose spiagge situate lungo la costa sud-est verso Portopalo di Capopassero, la Riserva di Vendicari. La penisola è una zona protetta del mare, un paradiso, un terreno lunare, grotte dovute all'abrasione via mare, gli uccelli in autunno: yelkouan (Puffinus yelkouan), Northern Gannet (Morus bassanus), Nero zampe Kittiwake (Rissa tridactyla), parassitarie Jaeger (Stercorarius parasiticus) e anatraia minore (S. pomarinus). Questo posto è il risultato del movimento delle placche tettoniche. Nelle vicinanze, a Punta della Molla, vi farà scoprire il tema delle pietre utilizzate per costruire le città della zona.

La réserve maritime du Plemmiro s'étend au sud de Siracusa de Punta Castelluccio et Punta di Milocca en passant par Capo Murro di Porco qui est la pointe de la péninsule appelée Péninsule de la Maddalena, un haut plateau au niveau maximum de 54 mètres au-dessus du niveau de la mer.
Sur la côte s'alternent de charmantes grottes, avec des pierres blanches et des petites langues de sable. La mer protégée est restée vierge et il est facile de rencontrer différentes espèces de faune méditerranéenne disparues dans d'autres endroits. D'ici vous pourrez rejoindre avec facilité les nombreuses plages qui se trouvent le long de la côte sud orientale en direction de Portopalo di Capopassero, dont la Réserve de Vendicari.
La péninsule est un espace maritime protégé, un petit paradis, un sol lunaire, des grottes dues à l'abrasion maritime, des oiseaux, en automne: Puffins yelkouan (Puffinus yelkouan), Fou de Bassan (Morus bassanus), Mouette tridactyle (Rissa tridactyla), Labbes parasites (Stercorarius parasiticus) et pomarins (S. pomarinus). Cet endroit est le résultat du mouvement de plaques tectoniques. Non loin de là, à Punta della Molla, vous découvrirez la réserve de pierres qui servent à la construction des villes des alentours.

This stretch of coast represents the eastern side of the Penisola Maddalena to the south of Syracuse. “The Penisola Maddalena” is the result of the area’s tectonic activity because of which a block, moving to NW-SE, has separated and lifted. This tectonic element is known in literature as a “horst”. Thus, a small plateau has formed and slopes from its maximum altitude of 54 m above sea-level towards the sea both to the east and west, sometimes gently through marine terraces belonging to the Pliocene and Pleistocene epoch, sometimes through marine slopes of the same age owing to bradyseism or positive movements of the sea.
The same situation appears in the coastline which is low, with stretches of shore, or high and rugged. In this latter kind of coast a series of very important caves, due to marine abrasion and where there are characteristic microenvironments, developed.
That part of coast characterized by ground of calcarenitic nature (P.ta della Mola, P.ta Tavola) has been interested by anthropic changes. Actually, some stone quarries that supplied the town with building material by boat haulage bear witness of these changes.
Besides the caves due to marine abrasion other morphologic elements develop in the abrasion planates that marine splashes wet: the so-called abrasion basins.
On the cliff near Capo Murro di Porco, the rainwater accumulation produces stagnations characterized by an interesting presence of hydric-alophile vegetation for most of the winter.
In support of Operation HUSKY (Allied invasion of Sicily) a unit of the British Special Forces, Special Raiding Squadron, landed on Capu Murro di Porco in the early morning of the 10th of July 1944. Dieses marine Schutzgebiet gehört zur Provinz Syrakus, wurde 2004 gegründet und umfasst Küste und Meer zwischen dem Kap Capo Murro di Porco und der Landspitze Punta della Mola. Mit diversen Grotten, Abgründen, unter Wasser verborgenen Schätzen und von Korallen bedeckten Felswänden ist es ein wahres Taucherparadies. In der Tiefe kann man eine Vielzahl von Fischen, Schnecken und anderen kleineren Riffbewohnern in allen Farben bestaunen, sowie große Muränen und Seepferdchen.
