Wandering from its origin in the swamp region north of Ship Rock
on Highway 21 to where it empties into the Wisconsin River system
via the Castle Rock Lake impoundment along County Z just south of
County J, Little Roche-A-Cri Creek meanders through a variety of
terrain. Some of it is swamp, some of it is farm land, but most of
it is woods, with many acres of that being part of DNR fish and
wildlife property. Anglers for trout ply the stream's winding
waters, and hunters of deer and turkey wait for their prey to come
into range amongst the trees and open areas.
At the stretch of the Little Roche-A-Cri where you will find
this cache, the creek is pretty much all its own. Farther
downstream just east of Tenth Avenue, Fordham Creek joins in as
both creeks feed into Friendship Lake, which goes until the dam
along Highway 13 at the north edge of the Village of Friendship.
Carter Creek, which is joined by Bingham Creek east of Highway 13,
and which then flows through Roche-A-Cri State Park, hooks up with
the Little Roche-A-Cri north of Moundview Golf Course. From there
on, the stream works its lazy way west to meet the backwaters of
Castle Rock Lake.
The final is located in a popular public
hunting area. Wear blaze orange and take precautions if you seek
this cache during hunting season. There may be a chance that the
cache will be disabled and the container removed for the gun deer
hunting season.
