On May 2, 2000, at approx 12am EST, the button was pushed that was
controlling selective availability of GPS accuracy; After the
button was pushed; 24 satellites around the earth began processed
their new orders, and instantly the accuracy of GPS technology
improved tenfold. And a new game/sport/obsession was born days
later !!
Come one-Come all!! It's time to celebrate geocaching's 10
years of existence. Bring your party hats and party favors, but
please keep it family friendly!!
Party starts at 7pm and runs to ?? , being held at Varsity Club
Cleawater
Birthday cake will be served . I told the venue seating for 20 to
start, but please in your logs tell me how many are going to be
present so I can adjust the seating numbers before the event. The
first 10 geocachers that sign the log and are present will receive
a free gift. So, please come early to get good parking spot as this
location is a happening place on a Friday nights and for the a
chance at free gift, group picture will be taken at at around 9pm
the event will shutdown when I decide I've had enough fun or they
kick us out..I suggest hanging around because we have some free
entertainment happening as well near by.
10 Years! Events
Anyone can host a 10 Years! Event
April 30 - May 3, 2010. Be sure to check your local event calendar
before submitting one, though: it may already be planned. In
addition to the standard event cache Guidelines, there are a few
additional guidelines that you will need to follow if you wish your
event to qualify for a 10 Years! cache type icon.
Additional Guidelines:
- Events must be held April 30 - May 3, 2010.
- The name of the event needs to be formatted this way: "10
Years! <your location>." For example: 10 Years! Seattle, WA
or 10 Jahre! Munich, Germany.
- At least 10 people must attend the event.
- Flashmobs do not qualify.
- A video or picture must be taken at the event. At least 10
attendees must be in the video/photo along with a legible sign
showing the event coordinates and location name.
- The people in the video or photo should be festive. Be
inventive! But please keep it family friendly.
If you are interested in hosting a 10 Years!
event, you are welcome to submit it as a normal event cache at this
time. We will provide details on how to switch the listing to a 10
Years! event soon.
