Geocache Description:

Hike up Sutton Mountain for a stunning 360 view. Look down on the Painted Hills.

Park on State Highway 207 at mile post 15 at the gravel pit. Hike across the road to a BLM access point and go through the gate...be sure to close the gate. There are several ways to get up to the Sutton Mountain rim. We hiked southwest up the ridge till we could see the Painted hills area and then worked our way up the last slope to the summit. Or if you go to your right after going through the gate you will see another gate that you can walk around the left side of without opening. If you follow this road it will take you to the summit via a longer but less steep route. We came a cross a rattlesnake den and there were ticks on the dogs so beware. There are some minor springs but bring plenty of water for you and pets as these springs will be minimal. We were here in April. Summers can be VERY hot and the overall elevation change from parking to cache area is 1500 feet. Please take time to re hide the cache well and do not stack rocks directly on the container.
