Pond Mountain is located within the Pond Mountain Natural Area in the Town of Kent, Connecticut. The property is located between the scenic roads of Skiff Mountain and Fuller Mountain. Use either entrance (see below) to enter a natural habitat like no other. This really is like stepping back in time and the serenity you will experience will leave you in a beautiful frame of mind.
There are two entrances to choose from when heading to this cache:
1. The main entrance (and trail head) is located at N41 45.594' W 073 28.971'. From there hike to where you turn right onto Mountain Trail at N41 45.593' W073 28.749'. Follow Mountain Trail right to the cache.
2. The alternative entrance is off of Skiff Mountain Road at N41 45.323' W073 28.160'. Park on the right side pull off (as you drive up Skiff Mountain) then cross the road to enter. Follow the Red Gate Trail to bear left on Escarpment Trail at N41.45.517' W073 28.340'. After a brief hike turn left onto Mountain Trail at N41 45.493' W073 28.660'. This takes you up the hill to the cache.
Take time at GZ to take in just how peaceful this spot is. With Macedonia Park to the West, and all the land East to the Housatonic River protected, you will literally be immersed in tranquility.
