This cache is located along a woodland trail in Eaglesfield, Dumfries & Galloway. Go straight through the village and exit at the other end where you will see there is more woodland around you - you will come to a sharp corner in the road just passed the 'National Speed Limit' signs and there is an entrance on your left (with some concrete bollards in front) saying SPRINGKELL and KIRKCONNEL CHURCH. this is a dirt track road which will take you to a small lay-by near the woodland track.
After parking up - go through the 2 wooden gates onto the woodland trail and ponder over the notice board which gives you a brief history of the devoted lovers and cheating couple and the tradgedy that ensued at this spot....
Take time to wander further upstream where the 'Kirkconnel Graveyard' and Helen and her lovers' graves are marked!!
A very secluded and natural place with few mugglers - very peaceful!
(DO NOT CONFUST THIS KIRKCONNEL LEE WITH KIRKCONNEL IN UPPER NITHSDALE NEAR SANQUHAR!!!)
