Borrowing an idea from our compadres in Virginia, please join us for the Georgia Geocachers Association Holiday Brunch Cache, Saturday, December 8th at 10:00 AM at a buffet-style restaurant near Lawrenceville.
In keeping with the vote of the membership, we will NOT be having a formal meeting in December. We did, however, want to offer this informal social event on what, for many, will be the last Saturday available for geocaching before the holiday season shifts into high gear. No business meeting will be held; no program will be presented; just come and have brunch with your friends, socialize for a while, and then head out to log some caches.
Why a brunch virtual cache? Why in Gwinnett County? Why at this restaurant?
Simple. Early in the day so that you're left with the majority of the day free to go Geocaching! In Gwinnett County because that is where many of our current members live, and also because it is a cache-rich environment with at least 14 active geocaches within 10 miles of the restaurant! And at this restaurant because it requires no up front money or planning AND all you have to do is show up (with money to pay for your breakfast) Pricing: Adults, $6.50, Kids $3.39-$3.99, under 3 free. PLUS, one dollar per person for the room. This money becomes a tip for the server.
This is a rain or shine event. Even if you have never hidden or searched for a cache, come join us. You don't even have to own a GPS... curious visitors and new players welcome! Come ask questions and learn more about our activity! We have reserved the “Board Room” to the back right as you come in. Our “official” start time is 10:00 AM but you can come earlier and look for members in the area of the room if we can’t get in until exactly 10:00.
Special for our new geocaching friends and visitors: Are you concerned about how to get started in Geocaching? During the morning, a member of the club who is an experienced geocacher will lead a caravan of new geocachers (in their own cars) to a nearby cache location. There, the new members will be able to practice their GPS and compass skills and ask for assistance from an experienced geocacher if necessary. If there is enough demand, several such trips will be made.
