Voici la quatrième cache de la série de caches urbaines au centre-ville de Gaspé. Cette cache est située sur un terrain privé. Elle a été placée avec l'autorisation des propriétaires. Elle ne contient qu'un logbook, apportez votre crayon.
C'est vers 1842 que la partie centrale de la résidence a été construite. William Wakeham acquit la résidence en 1880 pour l'habiter et en faire son cabinet de médecin. En 1879, le Dr Wakeham avait été nommé inspecteur des pêches pour le golfe St-Laurent et le Labrador. Durant la saison de navigation, il passe la majorité de son temps en mer à bord du navire à vapeur La Canadienne. Au fil des années, il fit faire des ajouts à la résidence: une serre, une salle de musique et une pièce de forme polygonale. Ces agrandissements ont donné une apparence de petit château à la demeure. La présence d'un frêne pousse le docteur Wakeham à baptiser la résidence le One Ash.
En 1897, il dirige une expédition scientifique en direction du détroit d'Hudson où il prend officiellement possession de l'archipel arctique au nom de la reine d'Angleterre.
En 1920, John Baker acquiert la maison pour en faire un hôtel de luxe. Jusqu'au début des années 1980, nombreux ont été les pêcheurs de saumons du Canada, des États-Unis et d'Europe qui ont séjourné à la Maison Wakeham, alors appelé le One Ash Inn.
La maison conserve encore sa vocation touristique. En effet, depuis le milieu des années 2000, on y trouve un restaurant renommé et de l'hébergement.

Here is the fourth cache in the series of caches urban downtown Gaspé. This cache is located on private land. She was placed with the permission of the owners. It contains a logbook, bring your pencil.
It was around 1842 that the central part of the residence was built. William Wakeham acquired the residence in 1880 to live and make his doctor's office. In 1879, Dr. Wakeham was appointed inspector of fisheries for the Gulf of St. Lawrence and Labrador. During the navigation season, he spends most of his time at sea on board the steamship La Canadienne. Over the years, he made additions to the residence: a greenhouse, a music room and a piece of polygonal shape. These additions gave the appearance of a castle in the house. The presence of an ash Wakeham encouraged him to name the residence the One Ash.
In 1897, he led a scientific expedition in the direction of Hudson Strait, where he took formal possession of the Arctic Islands on behalf of the Queen of England.
In 1920, John Baker acquired the house into a luxury hotel. Until the early 1980s, there were many salmon fishermen from Canada, the United States and Europe who have stayed at the Maison Wakeham, then called the One Ash Inn.
The house still maintains its tourist vocation. Since the mid-2000s, there is a renowned restaurant and accommodation.
