The Star
Ranger Station was established in 1911. Then, it was one little
building, which still stands today. There is much history here, so
be sure and check out the information boards in front of the
office.
Now, the Star
Ranger Station is headquarters for the Siskiyou Mountains Ranger
District,
part of the Rogue River - Siskiyou National Forest. It encompasses
219,000 acres of forest land. Most of the Red Butte Wilderness is in
this district, as well as several lakes, including Applegate
Reservoir.
The cache is a
small plastic container with several trade items and a log book.
Please use care if you cross the road.
